Solar Buddies - The child friendly sunscreen applicators

Meet Laura & Kelli

Solar Buddies is the first invention from mums and best friends Kelli Aspland and Laura Griffin.

The Solar Buddies applicator assists teachers and school staff in applying the lotion to children in a safe and convenient way whilst having the benefit of less mess. However since its launch in 2015 it has proven a hit with adults too!!

Kelli and Laura first had their idea for the child-friendly sunscreen applicator whilst discussing the ‘No Touch Policies’ most schools now have in place when it comes to applying sunscreen to children. “So, why not do something to help?” they thought!

That’s when the amazing journey of Solar Buddies began.  Kelli and Laura both agreed that something needed to be made available to help children and as parents themselves they thought it would be a great idea if they had a try at doing it. After 3 years of research and development the Solar Buddies were ready for manufacturing and were launched in Spring 2015. So just 6 years after their initial idea Kelli and Laura made the Solar Buddies into an award winning product, as well as Kelli and Laura being voted as Start-up Entrepreneurs’ of the Year. Who’d have thought 6 years ago that their simple idea would turn into an award winning product that is sold worldwide and would be featured on TV shows! Solar Buddies as a company also offers advice on clean living and how to stay sun safe.

Now a quick word from the ladies themselves:

“We are so proud to introduce our product to the world! Its unique design has been tailor made so efficiently even the smallest of hands can use it. We are so grateful for all the support we have had so far on our journey and the support shown by total strangers has been priceless. Knowing there are people out there who genuinely want to see your product succeed is so lovely.

All that’s left to say is we both hope you enjoy using the Solar Buddies and you love them as much as we do!”
